Giancarlo Stanton's knee injury will keep him out a long time - New York Post

The Yankees will again have to wait to see Giancarlo Stanton on the field.

General manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that “it’s going to be a while” and Stanton is unlikely to return in July, according to MLB.com.

Stanton exited Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays with what the Yankees initially believed was a knee contusion. However, a second MRI exam revealed that Stanton actually has a strained PCL.

Cashman called August “the sweet spot” for a potential return, and that anything earlier would be a bonus. The Yankees called up Mike Tauchman to take Stanton’s place on the roster Thursday.

Stanton previously missed significant time this season with a torn left biceps, a strained left shoulder and a left calf strain.
